I received with sadness news of the reign of terror unleashed on innocent Nigerians on the Abuja – Kaduna Expressway by a murderous gang of kidnappers. They killed, maimed, humiliated and harassed innocent commuters for several hours. Hundreds are still missing. It is one of the worst nightmares visited on Nigerians by demented elements who have no regards for human life and dignity.
In the incident the Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Mohammad Mahmoud Abubakar and his daughter were kidnapped. His driver was unfortunately killed.
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this latest outrage. May the good Lord intervene and lessen their pains. Their loved ones, by God’s grace, will rejoin them soon.
Shortly after the incident, the Kaduna State Government swung into action. It consulted relevant security agencies and mapped out strategies on how to rescue those abducted and conduct an intensive and extensive search for the missing persons. I am confident that in no time the massive operation will bear fruits.
The latest criminal operation by hoodlums on Kaduna – Abuja Expressway is one too many. His Excellency, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has vowed to work assiduously with Federal authorities, especially security agencies to bring the criminals to their knees. They will not only be degraded but wiped out.
That expressway is so critical to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. It connects Abuja with many parts of the country. Hoodlums must never be allowed to deprive Nigerians of their right to free movement and dignity. Enough is enough.
Once more, my heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims. Our fervent prayer is for the safe return of your loved ones and the repose of the soul of the murdered driver.
Mal. Uba Sani
Senator-Elect, Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone
